On December 4th and 11th, 2011, Sallie and Welling Clark and our amazing assistant innkeepers at Holden House 1902 Bed & Breakfast Inn, conducted two special open houses to welcome local folks into the holiday spirit. Lovely decorations, garlands, trees adorned with lights, an extensive nutcracker collection and warm hospitality were part of the events. On Dec. 4, the Clark’s participated in the 17th annual Old Colorado City Holiday Bed and Breakfast and Historic Places Tour. As one of six B&Bs on the tour, almost several thousand dollars were raised for the Old Colorado City Historical Society when approximately 250 tour-goers strolled through the Holden House. Guests were excited to see the fabulous decorations and experience a walk back in time and view the inn’s six antique appointed guest suites. Thanks to the graciousness of one of our return inn-guests who had stayed at the inn the night before, live piano music filled the air as historic tour guests meandered through the Holden House’ three Victorian charmers with six guest suites.

On the following weekend, friends and family were invited to a traditional open house and offered tours with the donation of a non-perishable item for the local food pantry, Westside Cares. The following week, over 50 lbs. of canned and packaged foods were provided to help the less fortunate thanks to the many individuals that participated in the festivities. Christmas cookies and champagne punch were special treats. New this year was the recently opened “Pikes Peak Suite“, which features hardwood floors, a private living room, kitchenette and bedroom with a private balcony. This new suite can be rented by the night or through an extended stay program.
